On July 1, 2010, Robert Battle became the Artistic Director Designate of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.  On July 1, 2011, he will become the Artistic Director when Judith Jamison retires. Robert Battle is a name that is synonymous with the finest in contemporary dance works.  For the last ten years Robert and his company have been influencing dancers and future choreographers around the world.  Robert Battle and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Foundation understand the value of having his work accessible to younger generations studying dance and choreography, and through Zia Artists are making a selection of his works available for staging by college and university dance departments, and performing arts conservatories.

The repertory available includes some of his most iconic works as well as some “hidden gems” that were created specifically for professional dance students.  The works available include:  Alleluia, Promenade, Primate, Communion, Battlefield, Flock, Crossings, and Channels.
