British-born choreographer Keely Garfield creates poetically subversive dance sagas that register subtle and seismic shifts in emotional and physical states. Meticulously organized and immediately disrupted, her askance tales are characterized by aching and ironic invention. Wry undercurrents are acutely articulated in softly-sensed, declarative and warped ways. In the recent past, Garfield created a site-specific work, Hope & Anchor, that premiered at the South Street Seaport, and she premiered LINE AND SINK HER at Danspace Project in New York City. Her most recent works, Eva Potranspiration/Cloud 9, First Attempt and Limerence, premiered as a triptych at Dansapce Project to rave reviews.
