Carolyn Dorfman Dance

“Her exploration in dance of the human experience both reflects and engenders a profound humanity. Because her dances are about people and life experience, often moving from the autobiographical to the universal, they hold immediate appeal”

—The New York Times

Known as a creator of provocative dances that reflect the human conditions, Carolyn Dorfman is interested in creating “worlds” into which the audience can enter. CDDC’s high-energy and technically demanding repertory uses movement as metaphor to take audiences on “intellectual and emotional journeys”. Through her acclaimed works, Mayne Mentshn (My People), Echad (One), Odisea, and Cat’s Cradle, she has created brilliant pieces that are a tribute to family, as well as humanity.

In her current project Dorfman joins forces with Norwegian, Jewish actress/vocalist, Bente Kahan, to cretae a evening of dance, music and theater entitled Echoes, Performing with CDDC, Kahan becomes the ‘weaver of tales’ alternating between her own songbook of Ladino, Yiddish, English, German music and work from Dorfman’s own Jewish Legacy Project.
